All about images and website graphics
Your Website. Online. In 2 Hours.

Adding photos to your website can really boost traffic but you have to be careful about infringing copyrights. You can find tons of images online on just about every subject using Google Images - but - you could run into trouble if you use those pictures without permission. You could make your own images from existing pics you find on Google Images using free tools such as The Gimp but this is time consuming and requires some graphic skills.

A solution is to use public domain pictures and photos. There are many sites which offer free images, for example, EveryStockPhoto.com but the better images require a paid subscription. One good source of public domain images is commons.wikimedia.org although the selection is somewhat limited in some sections.

An alternative is to buy a package of guaranteed public domain images such as the 4000+ Public Domain Images package from thecybercircle.com. The collection isn't free, but it's cheap at less than twenty bucks for over 4000 pics. You can even resell these images online to make more money!

Protect Your Intellectual Property

Protect your graphics with a watermark.

Your website graphics are easy to steal. Visitors automatically get a copy of every image on your web page just by visiting your site. Take a look in your Temporary Internet Files folder! You can't prevent this, but a watermarked image will help discourage unauthorized use of your intellectual property.

Turn hotlinking to your advantage!

Not much you can do to prevent other websites from hotlinking to your images, but you can turn the situation to your advantage by putting your URL in a watermark! Now every time your watermarked image appears on somebody else’s page its advertising your website and driving traffic back to you!
